Muro’s auto feed screw technology continues to lead in the development of Auto Feed Screw Driving equipment, Muro are a Canadian company with a long history in the auto feed tools sector. Allgrip Industrial and John Murphy(Castlerea) Ltd., are happy to be Muro’s chosen partner in Ireland. With a wide range of tools and fasteners to suit all applications Muro has a coil or strip feed system that will complete the task in a time efficient manner. This links back to our ongoing goal on this blog of advising you on how to reduce your “Install Time” thus lowering your costs.
Here is a list of the sectors that can benefit for Muro’s technology
·         Construction
·         Manufacturing
·         Roofing
·         Truck
·         Trailer
·         Modular accommodation

Fasten while standing up, no pre-drilling required
Easy to use, reliable and ergonomically designed to reduce bending and stooping so you work standing up during the drilling process. These tools remove the need for you to reach for each individual screw thereby reducing your “Install Time”. You have the added advantage of not having to pre-drill into steel as the fasteners are designed to drill straight into steel where required. The auto feed mechanism feeds the fasteners in line with the bit. You push down on the handle the tool does the rest of the work, what’s not to like.
So, these tools do the following:
1.       Dramatically increase the speed of installation
2.       Improve the health and safety of your staff by the tools ergonomic design
3.       Increase your profitability

Muro Vislider Coil System Tool
The Vislider is a coil system heavy duty tool. Other models in the range are for Heavy and Medium duty applications. I have recently been given one of these tools to do onsite demonstrations and I must admit I am impressed by how light the tool is even though we were driving 65mm super wing self-drilling screws into 50mm timber and then 5mm steel.
You can see the tool is durable and that the moving parts such as the fasteners are easily reloaded. The bits need replacing every box, approx. 1600 screws, are easy to fit. The replacement varies with different screw sizes, smaller size screws don’t put as much strain on the bit so you don’t replace them as often. On the demonstration, I was drilling in 6 x 65mm super wing screws.

As you will have seen in the video and the image above, the tool has a drum which holds the coils of screws, the drum always reminds me of the machine guns in Bugsy Malone, these pass through the feed mechanism, this is in line with the handle all you have to do is push down and let the screw eat through the timber or steel or both as seen in the video.
The adjustable depth control allows for countersinking the screws so you have no raised screw heads.

Super Wing Self Drilling Screws
These screws are available in various sizes from 5.0 x 32mm up to 60mm and in 6.0 x 40mm up to x 100mm. The square drive is standard, these match the bits that come with the tool. The screws will drill into wood, steel or aluminium

Muro also supply a full range of high quality strip system tools but that is for another blog .
